I should have been a little more specific. The kernel version 2.4.19-ac or newer will fix your problem. You have kernel version 2.4.18. Upgrade to a new kernel version.

I had updated my kernel (2.4.20) but still no progress. all conditions are same as before. How would I now set DMA enabled for my devices emulated over /dev/sda.
Help me out otherwise I will be a loser.

did you check the promise controller settings in the kernel compilation configuration before you compiled?
you might keep in mind that hdparm isn't a benchmark, and you may be comparing things that don't compare between linux and windows. i don'tknow anything else.

Whanard I did check the promise fasttrak option, the OS is recognizing the controller but it doesn't work properly.
I must gain double performance on raid-0 device as compare to regular device but its not happening.
I had done my maximum to put into this work. As a new commer in Linux, its verily disappointed for me.
Is there any How Tos for Hardware raid. If I would start from scratch. I will then follow step by step accordingly.

You try entering "hda=dma hdb=dma" at your boot loader to see what happens. If that does not work you can try entering "ide2=dma ide3=dma ide3=dma". It be something like:
linux kernel_options_goes_here

What I found, setting up Promise PDC20267 to enable DMA is very hard. You can try do a search for "promise PDC20267 dma linux" through google or any of your favorite search engine.

Again Promise PDC20267 IS NOT HARDWARE RAID. ITS SOFTWARE RAID. If you want to make it easier, use controllers from 3ware. I'm sure their driver's will work with your distribution.

Hello Guys
I had found one more thing:
# Cat /proc/scsi/FastTrak/0
PROMISE FastTrak Series Linux Driver Version 1.03.0.1
Adapter1 - FastTrak100, IRQ(9)
Array - Array[1] : 2+0 Stripe (OK)
Drive -
1: ST3120023A IDE1/Master Array[1] 120033MB UDMA5
3: ST3120023A IDE3/Master Array[1] 120033MB UDMA5

What does it mean. I think the UDMA is enabled for scsi emulation. Since I had block the ide2 to ide9 as per Readme Instruction. This might cause me to enable the DMA using hdparm.
Wht should I do now?
