I bought this CPU from aliexpress....Is this an original CPU ? or is it fake ? like, Is it ES or not ?

Is there a way to figure out whether this is genuine or fake ?

If the BIOS says it is i7-4712MQ then i am good...right ?

I'll say the picture LOOKS like a real Haswell H-series mobile processor. And at this point, the price is about how much one of them is worth. If it's fake it's a vastly overpriced fake.

It has been a while since I've seen fake CPU's but there is nothing to stop it.

Good counterfeit companies do a good job sometimes. Some foreign companies may have the ability to copy a product exactly.

Why didn't you purchase it from a reputable source? Or what makes you believe it is not reputable?

Agreed - if its booting up and showing up as what they say it is, and meeting its advertised clocks (when under load), no reason to think it's fake. In my experience 'fake CPU' usually means you get something non-working these days, not a 'rebadge.' I wouldn't regard an ES as 'fake' but that doesn't appear to be what you have here.

It's a valid question.
Since practically all electronics stuff is produced in China, purchasing straight from there opens many ways this could be a low grade B-ware or otherwise not "the real monty" product. Good luck getting a refund.

I don't think anyone can (or want to) produce a fake like this, but I can imagine it is a waster (substandard goods).

Personally I would be less concerned about substandard hardware coming from China and more about supply chain attacks.
