Dial up internet setup

I am a new user to Linux. I installed Red Hat 9 on my computer. I have to dial into the internet but I am unable to locate where I would setup the modem. It's a US Robotic Courier modem. I also need to setup a proxy server to allow other computers running windows, that are on my network, to use my internet connection. I am running Kernel 2.4.20-6

Try typing 'dmesg | less' to see the hardware that RH recognizes.

If you see your modem there, then go to the Internet Connection Wizard and chose a dialup (PPP) option. Your modem may be at /dev/ttyS0 (that is the usual place).

Darkhlmt32, you probably don't need a proxy server. You can just use IP-Masquerading
(simplier instructions here). This in conjuction with demand dialing, and your network will run pretty smoothly.

I ran the internet connection wiz and it didn't find the modem. But when I clicked on next it had the info for the modem on the screen. Although it called my modem generic. It said that I should restart and I did so after putting my provider info in. When I attemp to connect, which I am doing so through network connections, it dials and then hangs up as soon as it's done dialing. I don't know why it's doing that and I can't seem to find away to make it dial again.
