Question Diagnosing an installation problem

Greetings,

I am trying to figure out why my Slack 9 installation program is hanging. I have already started a post on this at

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=88493

However, I do not think this is a distro-specific issue at this point. Is anyone aware of potential issues with the below hardware and Slack 9?

AMD Athlon XP 2100+ (266Mhz system bus)
MSI KT4V Mainboard (VIA Apollo KT400, 8X AGP)
1 512MB DDR333 DIMM (mfg: Mircon)
Creative SB512 PCI
Creative Modem Blaster 56k PCI
MSI G3Ti200 Pro-VT AGP(GeForce 3 Ti200 GPU, 64MB DDR, S-Video TV Out/In, AV Out)
Onboard VIA Rhine ethernet adapter
40GB IBM Desktar HDD 7200 RPM (primary master)
10GB Maxtor HDD 5400 RPM (primary slave)
8x4x32 Hewlett-Packard CD-Writer (secondary master)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes. I don't think there is a graphical mode for the Slack 9 install.

But if there is, I would surely like someone to point it out to me.

lol
I just had a look at slackware.com lol
Try several installation with different hardware options and see what happens as i do 4 months ago
First it was a bad pointer device problem then it was the monitor
Cause switching from windows I do not know I must prefetch my hardware equipment

lol

I do have copies of RH8 and Mandrake 9.1 on hand if I ever get truly frustrated with Slack not installing, but I prefer to have more control over where things go on my PC than SuSE-like distros provide.

Hmmm... it appears I have made a typo. I do not have 3 HDs, but 2 HDs and a Hewlett-Packard (HP) CD-RW.

Sorry!
