when I use smartctl to watch the smart info of my SATA disk
I got this:
Code:

Home page is http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/

Device: ATA      Hitachi HTS54161 Version: SBCO
Serial number:      SB2341SHGGKSPE
Device type: disk
Local Time is: Fri Nov 23 16:14:24 2007 CST
Device does not support SMART

But my disk does support SMART ,I can see it in Windows
and this is my disk info

IIGC for SATA devices to do SMART you need a recent kernel and an AHCI-compatible motherboard. http://linux-ata.org/ for details.
