/dev/dsp disapperared

I had sound working after a bit of frustration
welp I had to add support for MS joilet extensions so i could install something so i added support for that to my kernel and recomilied. I changed nothing other than added 1 thing. Now after booting up Arts reports /dev/dsp can't be found and is setting sound to /dev/null. Any one have any ideas?

Likely cause: You didn't add sound support to the kernel. Or aren't loading the module.

What sound card are you using, and how is it configured in your kernel?

I fixed it trust me the kernel doesn't support my card unfortunately so i have to use alsa for the driver. I re installed alsa and it fixed so go figure. I didn't change my kernel setup except 1 addition.

thank you for the reply though

In my experience, you always need to reinstall ALSA after a kernel recompile.
