I'm using an old laptop as a cd library. One piece of it is a daemon to rip cds automatically when they are loaded. And I'm having a tough time with the cd load detection. I have not found any references yet about how to do this. I sort of thought it was straight forward enough that there would be something already made I could run from a script. But so far I have found no info about how to do it, never mind a prebuilt utility. I did find the source for a small app that is supposed to monitor the cdrom and play cds when they are loaded. Unfortunately I cannot get it to compile. When I looked at the code, it looks like I can find the pieces doing what I want. The problem is, I think I also found a handful of mistakes that were partly responsible for the failed build.
So I might be able to piece together a c program with this partly buggy model and magicdev source if it is available, but I'd rather not re-make it if there is anything else out there. Anyone?
sorry to not be more use with actual lower level code, but i know that grip (cd-ripper) does this sort of monitoring very well, might be worth a look at the source code. oh and looking at the config, it can autoplay on insert even....
