DELL poweredge 4400 raid machine with debian/ubuntu.
HI,
I am trying to install ubuntu onto the dell machine but i dont' have accompany CD that come alone wih the server (my boss purchase it on ebay lol). Now, linux wouldn't able to detect the precense of hard disk. I know i probably havve to go through the nasty module/kernel compilation process. But i can't even find the source file from dell website. Can anyone give me some hint on installing debian/ubuntu on such machine? thx in advance dav |
You can get the full set of 14 CD's for debian from cheapbytes for about $30 or you can download all the iso images and burn them yourself. You will need to boot with the #1 disk to install and load the release.
Hope this helps Jim Sterling |
the "accompany cd" refering the dell server management cds. I guess i shall post such question on dell forum rather then linux forum. I do have debian and ubuntu cds but the hardware doesn't detect raid is the main problem.
Thx for the advice anyway. |
