Dell / Nvidia Resolution Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 4100 that came with the GeForce 2 Go(32MB) and a 14.1 XGA display. I was running Redhat 9.0 but I "really" wanted to run Slackware. Under RedHat I had a nice 1400x1050 rez and lots of colors, real nice, but it ran slow.

Last night I took the plunge and installed SlackWare 9.0. Man, it sure is fast at the command line. But, I have a 800x600 screen when using Gnome. My console window(framebuffer?) is running at 1024x768 and is very stable and I like the rez. Can someone point me to some reference on how I can configure the screen in Gnome to be higher? I ran xfree86setup and now I have an 640x480 screen. WTF?

I am at a loss.

When I look at my XF86Config file, I do not see an area to manually set the resolution. Can someone help me with this? I will have to type up the file for thoise who want to see it, I do not know how to export a file yet.

I used the standard iso from Slackware site to install.

TIA

Solution found:

I went and downloaded the newest release of the NVidia driver and installed. But I received an error saying that the kernel headers were not installed, so , based on a post by DaOne, I pulled down the 2.2.40 kernel and used installpkg to install it. Then I ran the sh to install the driver and VOILA!!

1400x1050

I am very happy puppy now.

And it is running so much faster than RedHat on this system. It truly is an amazing differnce.
