Dell Laser Printer 1100

Just a simple question. I've searched the internet and found nothing. Is the Dell Laser Printer 1100, as in this compatible with Linux? Also it has "Networking: no". Does this mean that I can't make a simple printing network like cups on it?

I personally don't like USB printers... I would get a LaserJet that has a parallel port... It's just easier in the end...

Actually, I have a LaserJet IV and an old Dot Matrix for printing manuals and stuff over 20 pgs... works great...

Yes, this printer is very rare in a search machine.

But sometimes it gives an other model from an other manufacturer, which is build with the same hardware. So an driver for this other model will function. You may ask Dell for it and hope they will answer such question.

And also an driver for an other model from Dell may function. E.g. the story of an successful installed Dell Laser Printer 1700.

[|RoA|]RoadRunner suggests the Dell 1700 as an example of using non-specific drivers to get a printer going. It is not suggested that the "PCL 6/PCL XL Printer Foomatic/pxlmono" generic driver will work for the 1100. In fact, it will not work.

The printing language this printer uses, according to DELL), is GDI. This means it is the printer equivalent to a winmodem. i.e. a paperweight.

Congratulations.

See this site for information. When you've finished, stick an entry in the HCL (others should be warned). Thanks.
