Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Dell Inspiron 1420 Compatible with Red Hat Enterprise 4 or Fedora 7

hi guys , you've guess it, this is my first question.

I've been wondering if I lost a arm or a leg to buy a Dell Inspiron 1420 notebook computer, would it work Red-Hat / Fedora 7 ?

Specs:
Intel Centrino Duo Procesor Technology
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5450
2GB DDR-2 SDRAM
160GB HDD
14.1 " WXGA Display with integrated 2 megapixel webcam

Yes, I am using Linux to develop skills in the database world.

I'm open to all comments

Either should be fine, it may take a little extra effort for things like the SATA drive (RHEL) and wireless / video configuration (both) working but nothing major to overcome for either. Dell does offer fairly good Linux support and does have a Linux forum all it's own by the way;

Welcome to Linux

the single most important pieces of your puzzle for gaming on that machine are going to be:

Getting the best video driver for your machine set up

Getting Cedega or Wine setup

What video card do you have?
