Debian Sarge with USR External 56K Fax modem (command line help)
 

What I have is debian sarge (kernel 2.6.8.2) on an old p2 (IBM 300GL) that I am going to use for a fax server. I have the dip switches of 3,5,8 down. The only light that is lite up is the CS light. I have no GUI to make this easier for me. I have Tried to run "echo atdt7046629095 > /dev/ttyS0" and I see the SD and the TR light flash and then I return back to the command line. No error messages there. What should I be looking for to make this work? I have tried to google but really didn't come up with anything that was real usefull.
