Debian Sarge + Firefox + mx518 question

I am running Debian Sarge, and I browse the interenet with Mozilla Firefox. I am using a Logitech mx518 gaming mouse, which has a scroll wheel, as well as up and down arrow buttons.

Whenever I click a tab in Firefox, the link opens in a new tab, just like it should, but when I "wheel click" the tab to close it, it always says something like "invalid url." I'm a Linux newb and figured out that wheel clicking is the same as pasting. The other teo mouse buttons also paste as well instead of acting as back/forward buttons.

Do I need to change a Firefox setting ora Debian setting in order to properly manipulate the tabs in Firefox? Any help is appreciated!!

Thanks
