Debian Lenny - Nvidia GTX280 - Driver Version 195. - Compiz Fusion - Shell-Caracters

Hi everyone

I have installed Debian Lenny and the Driver for an NvidiaCard GTX280. As this card is not supported by the debian-repositories, i have installed the driver from the nvida-Site. It works ok, but there's one thing: When i have compiz fusion activated, the caracters in the shell are sometimes hidden (pls see attachment).

Does anyone know, what i can do?

In the workarounds plugin in ccsm, make sure the "Force synchronization between X and GLX" option is enabled.

Thx for the input, but it looks like everything in the workaround plugin is activated...

True, but your workarounds plugin doesn't have the option I asked about, which probably means that Lenny is (not surprisingly) shipping an older version of compiz that doesn't have that option.

I don't know if an updated compiz with that option will resolve your specific problem, but I do know that there were a number of display/distortion issues with compiz on the nvidia drivers which that option was designed to fix.

Alternatively, if you are using the --loose-binding option when starting compiz, you could try with it disabled.

Indeed, I have an older version than that one shipped with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I tried with the options you mentioned, but the "problem" was still there. One thing that seems to fix it is a reload via the "reload window manager" function of the Fusion-Icon.

thank you for your inputs
