Debian / HP Proliant ML350

I am thinking of purchasing an HP Proliant ML350 server with the intent of running Linux on it. I want to run Debian on it. I cannot seem to find information though regarding how successful or unsuccessful this might be.

The server specs are as follows:

Quote:
ProLiant ML350 G4 Hot Plug SCSI Tower Model
Intel® Xeon™ Processor 3.00GHz/800MHz FSB
1GB Total PC2700 (1x1GB)
Integrated Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adapter
Smart Array 642 controller (RAID)
6 x 1" Hot Pluggable Hard Drive Bays
RAID 1 drive set (requires matching 2 hard drives)
36.4GB Pluggable Ultra320 SCSI 15,000 rpm Universal Hard Drive (1")
36.4GB Pluggable Ultra320 SCSI 15,000 rpm Universal Hard Drive (1")
1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive
48x IDE (ATAPI) CD-ROM Drive
NC7761 PCI Gigabit NIC (embedded)
SmartStart & Insight Manager
Warranty - 3 year next business day onsite
Any info anybody might have regarding this?

unsuccessful for now. im trying to install debian, centos & others on it. Maybe if you change the scsi controller with one, which has a better support it will do just fine, i think.

I have the DL360 G5 and Debian runs perfectly well on it..

did you look at the HP Proliant Linux Server compatibility matrix for Debian ? The ML350 G5 should work fine.

Code:
mail:~# cat /etc/debian_version
4.0

mail:~# lshw
mail
    description: Rack Mount Chassis
    product: ProLiant DL360 G5
    vendor: HP
    serial: USM0000000
    width: 32 bits
    capabilities: smbios-2.4 dmi-2.4
    configuration: boot=normal chassis=rackmount
Ack dude.. start a new thread you replied to one that is four years old !! And then I followed you right in....
