Data recovery from slave hardrive?

Hi,

My Samba server just crashed and I need to get the data off the drives.
Running Red Hat 3 WS with Scsi HD's.

Before I spend the time trying the following, is it possible to install the old hardrives as slaves in another server then navigate to the drives and recover the data?

Thanks,

360

I'm not sure what you mean by slave drives since you say they are SCSIs.
But yes it should be possible. Verify that the SCSI IDs are unique for the controller they are going be attached. Redhat uses partition labels so if your drives contain / and /boot the PC your attaching them to might not boot correctly.

Good, thanks...
I just found out "slave" is an ide term. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again,
