data cd ok | audio cd can't play

Hello guys, I just installed mandrake 9.1 and I like it. When I insert a data cd on cdrom works fine, i can view, copy, etc. but if I insert an audio cd I can't play it or view the tracks. Any idea?
Thanks

you don't mount a music cd, use one of the media players.....KsCD, or Noatun, XMMS, Kaboodle

exactly right, and if you can't hear it then make sure you have an audio cable connected from your cd rom to your sound card or onboard sound (whichever you have)

what?!!! you don't have xmms installed?!??!
lol

sorry, but that sucks, it is the best player in linux for audio

you should get it - xmms.org

anyway, try looking thru the properties in kscd to make sure everything is ok and not muted.

ok, well, do you have two cd rom drives in that box? if you do, then try the other one, sometimes sound like that is only supported in one drive.

you don't need the codec to play audio files in xmms, try it out.

mdk 9.1 might even come with the codec, i don't remember, i think 9.0 did cuz i had that installed at one time
