Question DAT tape drive command

Hello,
I'm using a Seagate CTD 8000r-s drive under linux.
It works great but I've been unable to eject a DAT from the drive without rewinding it.
I've tried the following commands without success :
mt -f /dev/nst0 rewoffl
mt -f /dev/nst0 offline
Pushing the "eject" button on the front of my external DAT drive does rewind the tape before ejecting it.
Is there a specific command that I can use to avoid the rewinding of the tape before ejecting it ?
Thanks
