well i did:
insmod -f wlan.o
i tried to do:
insmod -f ath_hal.o but it didn't compile right, some kind of error saying 'uudecode' not found....
then i tried:
insmod -f ath_pci.o
...

hello, im having the same kind of problem as you but im using a netgear WG311.
i guess u get that error because in the ath_hal directory you dont have the ath_hal.o (which is the module)
and the same module should be in /lib/modules/2.4.20-???/net/ - but it aint there right ?

yeah.... i got wlan and ath_pci to compile, but i couldn't get ath_hal to compile, it said something about a uuencode error...
so i tried downloading sharutils from redhat but there is no sharutils for redhat 9 for my kernel... i tried installing a package for i386 but wouldn't install...
i tried going to sourceforge.net and they have a link to some modifications to the Makefile, but i can't read it, all the text is squeezed into the left-hand side of some sort of frame....
what kind of errors do u get? the same ones?

Its all a matter of RH9 not having a utility it should, uuencode and uudecode and their friends... which is bloody stupid on RH's part. Its probably somewhere on the install CDs, but regardless, let's team up the threads here, and check out the end post on this one:
