D-Link DI-624 wireless card...

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the desktop wireless card for the D-Link DI-624 wireless router is compatible with linux. I know I don't have to go with the D-Link card specifically, but if I could I would like to. If anyone knows if this card is supported, could you please show me where to go for support on it. Thanks

Card:

Yes it is. You just need to load the modules correctly. In case you need that info i can send you the steps i take here but i believe i already did it in one of my other replies. Right now i am trying to configure the same router you have (di-624) w/o success. The connection is up and down all the time as if it couldnt conenct. Last night i managed to see the config utility for a few seconds. I am trying it w/ my w2k now. Do you know if i need to have my WAN connected to the router in order to configure it? Since i am moving the router everywhere in the house to test it i cant use my WAN in all my pcs. Can you help me w/ this question? I am contacting dlink right now but i am afraid they wont be able to help me thru email...

Do Not Buy.

This router sux hard, it disconnects you regularly..

WEP in Linux is almost impossible to get to work, and is most random.

Buy ANOTHER router, that's not D-Link.

HEED THE WARNING!

I have this router.

No you dont need to have the WAN connected to get to configure it - that would be stupid - how could you configure a WAN connection if you can get to the configuration screens without WAn being connected? It would be a complete catch-22!!

It worth getting the latest firmware from DLink as I was having frequent disconnection problems from my ISP (WAN connection via cable modem) before I upgraded - now my WAN connection seems much more stable. (I think the heartbeat pings werent being handled very well).

As far as WEP goes - I've never had an issue with connectivity, but maybe I've been lucky! - My LAN has always been perfect! I have a W2K box cabled via ethernet a W-XP laptop that connects via WEP and a Linux box cabled via ethernet. I've also had other people connect with laptopts without any issues at all from all over the house.

I would assume that if you can get drivers for a DLink wifi PCI card for linux then it'd work - but thats only an assumption!

I would definately perservere with this router before giving up as other posters suggest! Why spend more money than you need?

I agree with MythN00b I have this same router and have never had any problems with it. As far as the wirless card, if you get it working could you post on here? Because right now one of my computers is just wired, and I would like to put a wireless card in it. So if that one does work I would like to know so that I can get it.
