D-Link DFE-530tx+ problem with RedHat 9 and Fedora Core 2

Hello,

I recently installed a D-Link DFE-530tx+ in my computer running Fedora Core 2. When I boot the system, I get the message "IP information for eth0... failed; no link present. Check Cable?

The cable is definitely connected. I have seen other posts describing similiar problems, but none of the offered solutions seem to apply or work for me.

I am wondering if perhaps it's a driver issue. I know the card is supposed to be compatible with Fedora/Redhat--although it's recognized as a "RealTek RTL8139."

Any ideas?
