CUPS Print Help

OK - I think I understand why I can't print but need some help on resolving this.

- Debian = OS
- KDE 3.5.1 = Window Manager

When I go to "Control Center > Peripherals > Printers"

Here Linux tries to look for the CUPS directory on my local workstation rather than our stand alone CUPS server. Of course I get this error because there are no CUPS directory on my local machine.

Look at this image and you will see the CUPS server defaults to "LOCALHOST".

Now when I click the button on the bottom left "Administrator Mode", it ask me for my "ROOT" password and then loads the following screen:

Now since I am "root" it loads everything fine and I can even successfully print a test page. However when I close this window and go to my mail client, I can't print anything.

First: I have never set up network printing...
Maybe you should first configure the printer with the cups setup interface - it is a web interface and usually reached by typing:
http://localhost:631
in any browser.
There you can add and configure printers, which I have only done (as I said) for locally attached printers - but I noticed the options for network printing...
Hope this gets you farther!

...maybe start this interface by giving the adress of your printer instead of localhost...?
