CUPS Driver for Cannon i850 (or alternate daemon?)?

OK, because the cannon i850 isn't in the foomatic database, and I can't seem to find a driver for it on the internet, is there an alternate driver that I can use in the foomatic database?

If there isn't, is there a different/better print server that I can use that DOES have compatable with the Cannon i850?

There is apparently some information on the www.linuxprinting.org website mailing lists. See. e.g.

OK, so now I've read it, but I can't seem to find the bjfilter anywhere except on *BSD mirrors, and it's not in portage :( , Can I download the BSD RPM and then convert it to another format? if so-- how?

If you need to use this, I think you would have a better chance unpacking the RPM (using the 'alien' app I guess) and installing the files by hand, making the symlinks as the FAQ suggests. There seem to be binary libraries in there tho', which may be incompatible with your gentoo system.

You might be better off using the bj7004 driver as the FAQ suggests, if the quality is not real important. I have nil experience with the prob. so someone may have a better suggestion.
