CUPS / cupsd startup question

In Mepis, I see that the /etc/init.d/cupsys shell script is used to start the CUPS daemon. What I don't see is how/where the cupsys shell script is initially launched when the system boots up.

On other Debian-based distros, e.g. Ubuntu, there is a /etc/rc2.d/S19cupsys startup script that launches cupsys.

How is cupsys automatically getting launched if not being launched along with the other startup scripts in the /etc/rc2.d directory?

thanks.

Does that help you, or did I just waste your time? LOL.

I use MEPIS 3.43 and never even heard of CUPS until I had to install my printer. I did get it to work. I had to open konsule and su as root and type something to "restart" CUPS. . .then I was able to install my HP960c printer. Works fine now.

I'm not sure what you are asking though. Do you need help getting CUPS to work? This is what I did while in konsule as root:

# /etc/init.d/cupsys restart

Then I was able to proceed.

Does that help you, or did I just waste your time? LOL.

I have cups working fine and Mepis printing fine. Just poking around the system trying to understand what is firing up and noticed the usual cupsys startup script in the usual place not there, thus the question, where *is* it being started from.
