cups and parallel printer

Hi,
I have been trying to configure cups to print with my Epson Stylus Color 500 parallel printer.

I went to : http://localhost:631/
Then, I've clicked on Manage Printer. Them, on Add Printer. I entered epson500 as the name and left the other fields blank.

Now I dont know what to do. I have a choise of devices but there is no parallel port in the list of choices. I tried LPD/LPR Host or Printer but it didn't work.

What should I do ??

Thx,
Rognon

It's been a while since I installed the cups thing. Let's see...

First of all, is your parallel port installed correctly ? That is, is the driver either compiled into the kernel or loaded as a module (lp module) ? That might explain why it doesn't show up.

Next, I would advise you to stop fooling around with that cups administration screen and install foomatic instead. It's a package that helps you install your printer under any printing system, including cups. There's also a foomatic-gui tool for easy configuration.

I've never had any printer-related problems since I started using that
