Creative Vibra 16
Hi,
I'm running Mandrake 8.0 on an old Dell OptiPlex GXL 575.
My problem is, the sound is an onboard chip, the Creative Vibra 16, and, mandrake doesn't detect it... Does anyone have a driver / module / instructions for how to get it working?
Thanks for your help!
- Nick

Half working
Hi,
I've been messing around with it a bit and managed to get the sound working with the 'sb' module.
Another problem has started though, whenever I enable the onboard sound, it uses an IRQ, and forces my main network card to change addresses. Is there a command for mandrake 8 to list all IRQs / Addresses and what's using them?
Thanks,
- Nick

cat /proc/interrupts
You might be able to change the IRQ of the network card in the bios

Hmmmm
Hi,
Thanks for your reply...
This dell bios is cheeky and won't let me change the IRQ, I've given up now after having to set the nics back up because it caused the IRQs for the NICs to change :-/
Maybe a normal soundcard would be better
Cheers,
- Nick
