creating /dev/ttyS0 or ttyS1

Hello.
I have corrupted the nodes /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/modem due to a mistake in calling ln command!
Deleted them and reboot the system. Because I thought that they must be created by Linux automatically. But it does not happened! Now how can I make them again?
I am using Slackware 11.

Most minicom problems occur because the settings don't match. Make sure thet the baud, parity and everything else, that they all match exactly. Also, after connecting with minicom press Enter a few times. Get yourself familiar with minicom. It's very easy once you try it.

As an alternative you may want to try connecting with a Windows Hyperterminal to narrow down where the problem is coming from; wether it's your terminal client or your server.
