flameable, shamable. It would have to get pretty hot to catch fire. And if it did, the show wouldn't be to bad. ;)

My laptop does the same thing. When it wakes up from sleeping, the bios thinks the cpu is at 86degC, and the fan kicks into super overdrive mode. I just hit function-Z to reset the bios on the laptop. Not sure how to do that on a desktop. Seach google for info on this, that's how I found it but I don't remember the link.

if your motherboard supports it, you have lm_sensors
installed and a few other things.

My P4 runs a little hot. Right now, the temp inside the case is 79.5 F

I installed slackware 8.1 last week using a bare p200. Then the damn thing burnt my finger afterwards. I got the message and heatsinked it but it was going hard for a good two hours.
