CPU comparisons

Is there some kind of a matrix or table that shows the differences between various CPUs like:
Athlon 64/1
Opteron/2
Core 2 Duo
Xeon/2
etc.

I would like to understand the details before making a purchase.

Can you point me to a website that done some kind of a detailed comparison?

Thanks.
