Could this be causing cdrom probs for me?
Hi. I've been experiencing a big problem lately with my cdrom drive. You see, Linux says the cdrom is mounted (I'm using Mandrake), but when I put in a cd of any type (music, data,Mandrake install,etc...), it says "sorry could not display all contents of 'cdrom' " . Well I went into dmesg and dmesg incorrectly identifies the cdrom drive as a cd/dvdrom drive which it's not. The message that was there read like this:

"CRD-8322B, ATAPI CD/DVDROM drive"

I've tried many solutions the people in the Mandrake forums have suggested. I've also read something like that this type of drive can sometimes be mistaken as having a scsi controller but it doesn't and that it requires special configuration. Is this true?

Thanks everyone.

By the way, if anyone needs, the machine specs are:

pentium 400 mhz celeron processor
64 mb sdram
32x cdrom
Mandrake 9

by the way, I'm pretty much a Linux newbie with the exception of using the DamnSmall live cd and Flonix live cd.
