Could not get a computer to send signal to monitor
I bought an HP Elite mini G1 from the auction site. I put my 1 Tb SSD in it, as it didn't come with one - this SSD had Ubuntu 22.x lts on it. I knew I maybe would have to use a usb thumb drive with Ubuntu on it to get these properly up and running. However, I was unable to get a Display Port video signal to the monitor when I powered it up. I even tried a VGA monitor connected to its VGA port and couldn't get a signal.
This computer is simply faulty, right? Or am I missing something?
This is the unit I bought. I guess you get what you pay for sometimes: https://www.ebay.com/itm/166342334786

The eBay ad shows it has two DisplayPorts and a VGA port. How were you trying to "get a DVI" signal? When? Nothing even during POST, or nothing only trying to boot into Ubuntu after successful video during POST?

I should have said a Display Port signal wouldn't work. In the following link, the third one is the one my monitor has and the computer has:

Note: Editing my initial post to say "Display Port."

Again, when does the failure occur? Right away? Does the screen never show anything more than a no signal message? Does it even show a no signal message? Are you sure the display isn't your original problem with the old PC?
That both cable types fail suggests a display problem, but with a "new" used PC, it well could be the problem. Do you have another display to try, a TV with VGA input maybe?
You can't know whether the installed Ubuntu is compatible with your new PC just by sticking a disk from another computer in it. You should try booting an installation media USB stick or some other live media. Don't you still have the one you used to install Ubuntu on the old PC? If the PC won't respond to it either, you probably need to contact the seller.

Answering your questions one by one below:
- The failure occurs instantly, my HP monitor says no signal
- The screen never shows anything
- Yes, the HP monitor shows a no signal message
- no, a Display problem wasn't the problem with my other PC - it kept not accepting mouse input/clicks (like I couldn't click another tab in a browser or double or single click an app to open it.
I have contacted the seller and told him/her to send me another one while I ship this one back to him/her - i asked him/her to test the display ports first

Or you could try looking on the Ubuntu forums for display port advice:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1181...eing-picked-up
...since Display Ports can sometimes require drivers to be loaded. Did you (again) do any research at all??? Maybe looking at the HP forums?
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto...t/td-p/4995274
...since the BIOS may need an update?? Did you CHECK the BIOS to see if the VGA port was enabled?? Did you disconnect the Display Port cable BEFORE plugging in the VGA?? Did you (as suggested) try running the install media, which you claim to have??
::EDIT::
So if you sent it back, why post if you suspected bad hardware?? And did you set your MONITOR to be on the correct input??? You (again) don't provide details about the monitor, but some don't auto-switch inputs. If you had it set to DVI and were expecting display port/VGA to work, that could well be it. Did you actually try this monitor on a different system, or do ANY basic diagnostics??
