Corrupted partition won't fsck --rebuild tree. Need help!

My hdd crashed last week, and I lost data inside a partition that won't fsck --rebuild-tree. A few blocks from the end, it aborts, saying that I have hardware problems. Tells me to buy another hdd, etc...
I have already, but I really need to recover data from that lost partition.

What can I do to recover data from a partition that won't --rebuild-tree?? It's really lost, and corrupted, and stuff. Need some powerful program.

Already tried several recover tools, but all of them fail in trying to rebuild the tree. Is there any way that I can recover data WITHOUT rebuilding? It can take time, and be incomplete, no problem!

Thank you kind people!!

System is SuSE 9.0, the file system is reiser, the hdd crashed is seagate barracuda IV 80GB, motherboard is Abit KG7, athlon xp 1600.

Re: Corrupted partition won't fsck --rebuild tree. Need help!

I had a Suse 9.0 system corrupt a hd or file system last week.
The hard disc is okay though, could this be a suse bug.

I followed default install.
Dma turned on.

ata33 6gb maxtor - 128mb ram

Died during hotmail attachment download, we can not get hotmail working with konqueror also.

Will a hdparm tweak do anything for me?

Suse bug? I don't see this likely. Hdparm won't do no good in this case. Run fsck.reiserfs from the suse cd install and follow their wisdom.
