convert ataraid to md

Hi!
I have just had a computer crash which made my promise fasttrack66 ata raid card useless (no need to bore you with details).
I had two 80 gig ata drives connected to the promise card and i would like to set them up as a software (md raid) instead. Is this possible? I have read that it should be possible although i have no idea on how to do it...
I am running redhat 9 with kernel 2.4.25.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

regards

/Peter
