Connection Bluetooth Olympus OM-D camera fails
Dear People,
Was happy that the camera supports Bluetooth, but unable to get the connection.
Maybe there is a good reason for this or maybe not.
Tried it with manual PIN and without, result is the same.
Bluetooth in system settings IN KDE desktop environment.
Most kindly,
Peter

What device are you trying to set up bluetooth connection with? Since you posted on a linux forum, I'm guessing a linux system? Please clarify.
If it is a linux system, did you bring up Bluetooth Manager? You can scan from BT manager, did you try that to see if the system can see your Olypmus camera?
FWIW, I have a OM-D EM5, it does not have bluetooth. I use a usb connection to transfer pics to digikam. My experience with bluetooth is jaded to say the least. I can usually get it to work, but no grarantees. USB always just works.

Yes it is visible, the address can be seen in the manager, but when trying to pair it fails every time with our without passpin.
Bluetooth manager is found in system settings, KDE environment.
Yes the Mark IV definitely has Bluetooth and it is enabled, bluetooth icon is shown on camera display and the BT password is found in the menu.

Blueman (GTK Bluetooth Manager) has the same problem as the KDE bluetooth manager.
It shows the device clearly, but fails when trying to pair.

See page 142 of the user manual for the EM10-mark4.
It states you need OI.Share app to connect bluetooth to a smart phone. There is prohbably some code in that software that allows bluetooth connectivity.
Down the page further is states "The wireless LAN function on the camera cannot be used to connect to a home or public access point."
Page 143 describes the intended use of bluetooth with the OI,Share app.
You could contact Olympus support and ask if its possible to connect bluetooth to a computer, sure doesn't look like it according to the manual.
