Connecting radio/amp to computer problem

Hello,

I am trying to get a radio w/amp to play through my computer speakers but I hear nothing. I know I have a sound card because I can play midis I download. The radio/amp works because I have hooked it up to regular stereo speakers. But when I connect it to my computer input there is nothing.

I have the Y audio cable with the RCA jacks connected to the radio/amp and the stereo mini-jack connected to my computer in, with my regular computer speakers plugged in.

I noticed the package for the jacks says to plug the mini jack into a portable stereo device and the RCA jacks into the speakers, which is not what I am doing. Is this the problem? Do I need to get something different?

Your wiring is OK. Be sure you're starting out with the amp turned very low.

Right click on your volume control, go into properties and adjust the "capture" settings. Also make sure you are plugged in to the "Line In" port of your sound card

thanks so much! I am plugged into line in on my sound card. Now, I don't know where the volume control is to right click. Should I have an application running?
