Confiuring MS IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth help needed

I have IBM T42 with Suse 10.0 installed on it. In conjunction with this I use a MS IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth. Now I have been able to get the mouse working using hidd but have following problems.

1.after each reboot I have to manually reconnect the mouse using hidd.
2.the mouse disconnect after about 12 min idle time which means reconnecting using hidd.
3.the mouse wheel I cannot get working at all, and I would love to also make use of the thumb buttons

Now for each reconnect of the mouse i need to
1.execute hidd –killall
2.restart the bluetooth deamon “/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart”
3.execute hidd –connect 00:50:F2:E9:C0:BC
and this is not always successful. This is starting to become very irritating.

Concerning the wheel mouse, I have played around with the xorg.conf setting and also tried to remap the buttons, but nothing works. Further, I still don't have a understanding as how the device mapping work, i.e.

when placing a cat on /dev/input/mice and moving my Microsoft Mouse I get an output, but I walso get an output when using the nav track mouse, or the touch pad. When placing a cat on /dev/input/mouse0 I get and output from the touch pad only, and mouse1 from the nav track mouse. /dev/input/mouse2 gives me the output from the bluetooth mouse.

So from my logic, each device is mapped to a mouse# and all brought together in /dev/imput/mice. Why is this done like this?

So these are my goals:

1.I need to get the Microsoft mouse wheel working, and preferably the thumb buttons as well. The tilt wheel is not important, but if there is an easy way I will do that.
2.As in my previous Windows configuration, I switched of the touch pad mouse and only used the nav track mouse. I prefer this mouse, and with the touch pad switched on one occasionally will get unwanted results as one easily can touch the touch pad. Thus I would like to switch of the touch pad mouse by default.
3.I would like to enable the bluetooth mouse at boot time, and not have to connect it manually every time I reboot. Further the 12min threshold must be disabled, or the mouse must be able to reconnect automatically.

Can anyone help me to achieve these tasks, and please don not advice to buy a different laptop or mouse, as I'm very happy with the hardware I obtained from the company I work for.

Thank you very much in advance
