configuring Joystick in Kubuntu

Hi,
I'm having some troubles setting up a joystick in kubuntu dapper. I have tried 3 different models now and there's not a single one that will work properly.
The first one I tried is an analog 4-axis 4-button joystick. I can get all axis and buttons to work on this one, but it's very unstable. (the readings that is). But I guess that's because it's a el cheapo I got for free.
The second one I tried is a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital. I can only get two out of three axes working. The third (throttle) doesn't work. Instead, the POV hat changes the readings of what should be the throttle. The same goes for the third one I tried: a DB Boeder P16, which is I believe also digital.
I tried to kalibrate these joysticks through the system settings in Kubuntu. The joystick is connected to a game port that's on my SB Live!

Does anyone know how I can make the Logitech and/or DB Boeder work correctly (so with a correct throttle?)

Thanks for the effort, but I don't use an USB gamepad. Instead I have a joystick that's connected to the game port of my SB Live!

Ok, perhaps with some additional information somebody will be able to help me.
lsmod shows me the following modules:
Code:
Module Size Used by
adi 9856 0
joydev 10048 1
analog 12320 0
emu10k1_gp 3840 0
gameport 15496 4 adi,analog,emu10k1_gp
According to /usr/src/linux/Documentation/input/joystick.txt I need module adi for the Logitech Wingmen Extreme Digital, emu10k1-gp for the game port on my SB Live! But apperantly both of them aren't in use (if I understand what lsmod tells me).
So how do I get my joystick to use those modules?

ps. In an desperate attempt I also gave Automatix a try, but unfortunately it didn't work.
