configuring intel 845ge sound chipset in Red Hat 8.0

Hi! I installed Red Hat 8.0 on my Intel 845 GEBV2 mother board. Everything else works fine, except the sound. The sound card is detected as i810 chipset, though it actually is intel 845GE. But when I play audio, I can't hear anything. The progress bar in the audio players move as if everything is OK. I tried the "detect soundcard" utility. But there too, it says i810 and I can't hear the test sound.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.
