configuring ethernet adapter in SUSE 9.3

I have a system with Intel D945PSN motherboard.
This motherboard comes with the intel Pro/1000 Gigabit ethernet controller.
I have installed SuSE 9.3 Pro 32 bit.
Although it detects that the device is an Intel Ethernet Controller connected on the PCIe bus, I have not been able to configure it to connect to the network or internet.
Could someone please help me out on this.
THanks in advance.

More info

Have you tried to configure it using YaST - Network Devices?
If yes did you look in /var/log/messages and get any results?
