ok, posted a bunch of stuff before this, but i never managed to figue this out.

i found on the Linksys website directions to installing there card. I was running into a bunch of errors at the very end of the "make install" specifically there was a directory that the installer was not making, here is the page i went to and then when into the knowledge base, and searched WPC11. I would have posted the URL but i do not have enough posts.


all the other folders where crested but this one(i figured this part out by myself.

here is where i configured the file

so after that i typed "make all" and got this



then i did "make install"

if finishs with a whole bunch of code, but no errors.

then the next step is to


Once this is done, type:

cd /etc/pcmcia

then vi wlan-ng.opts


Once the file comes up in vi hit esc then i to start insertion


First you will need to change the option WLAN_ENABLE=n to WLAN_ENBLE=y (Note some times this is listed twice)


Scroll down and look for "SELECT STATION MODE", make sure that IS_ADHOC= is set to n, so it would be IS_ADHOC=n


Now configure "INFRASTRUCTURE STATION START"

set the desiredSSID="" (By default this is set to linux-WLAN) to what ever the SSID is set to on your network.


If you're using WEP the options for WEP are listed above, however you will need to enter your key manually. Read the instructions under "WEP" for more information.


Once you've done this hit esc then : then x then Enter to save and exit. If you want to exit with out saving hit esc then : then q! then Enter


there is only one problem. i do not have the wlan-ng.opts file

this is what i have in /etc/pcmcia
[root@localhost pcmcia]# ls

cis ide network serial wlan-ng
config ide.opts parport serial.opts wlan-ng.conf

so i tried rebooting without this step, but i still cannot get the card to load. what did i do wrong?

can anyone help me?
