Configure Xerox printer

In the background...
There is a post on LQ with 276 views (no responses) requesting help on installing the Xerox Phaser 6100. I won't bother asking that question. CUPS rejects the Xerox supplied PPD file as invalid.

My question is: How can I fool CUPS into using the Phaser 6100 as a plain vanilla Postscript printer. I don't need anything fancy, but I do need to get it working.
If it's relevant, we're running Mandriva 2005 LE. The problem seems to be CUPS related.
A practical example would be warmly welcomed.

Thanks in advance,
Yitzhak

Please run your MCC or KDE printer configuration to see if MDV 2005LE supports this printer. IF not, you could spend some time installing and configuring printer drivers.

good luck

Thanks. That's exactly the problem. Neither Mandriva nor CUPS support the printer. However, I do believe it could be configured as a plain vanilla Postscript printer, but I don't know how to do this.
