configure floppy and dvd rom without command line

Hello All. Does any one know of a distro that is easy to use with the floppy and a dvd rom ?Ihave been using all the popular distros for some time now for accessing the web e-mails etc . I am amazed how stable most of them are , but I just cannot sort out the command line. I have built this pc myself so I cant be completely stupid ( or can I ?) So is there a distro out there which will allow me to use these items without the command line?

Hi StandW

Almost all of the desktop distributions available that have an Xwindows (or equiv) desktop offer tools to mount and format floppy media, and mount devices such as CD-ROMS, DVD-ROMS, and HDDs without recourse to issuing commands in a command shell or from a terminal session.

Being a newbie I guess I have to ask:

1) which distribution would you like to use ?
2) of the distributions you have tried - have you installed an Xwindows (or equiv) environment, and managed to start and use it successfully ?

Regards

Chris
