Which Linux distribution are you using ?

In your profile it says RedHat 9. So you can use RedHat's Printer Configuration GUI tool.

In the GUI environment, under System in the Menu, look for Printer Configuration.
Or
Open a console windows and type redhat-config-printer-gui.

What type of printer do you have ?

You can try using the generic drivers
Or
Go to the web site of your printer manufacturer to see if they have one available for Linux.

You are right, Lexmark does not have a Linux driver for the x83.
However, it is possible that an UnOfficial driver may be available somewhere on the internet.
I just don't know where.

I suggest complaining directly to Lexmark.
