Configure 5button + 2 wheel mouse

Hey 2 all

I went out and brought a A4Tech 5 button + 2 scroll wheel mouse but there doesn't seem to be any articles around for configuring this. I am running RH9 BTW.

Can anyone help

As I recall it X-Windows has support for at max 5 buttons (note that the scrollwheel is 2 buttons in one, MousewheelUp and MousewheelDown). This gives you a standard config with 1 Wheel, 1 PressWheelButton and 2 regular buttons. Hopefully there will be support for more buttons in next version of XFree86.

Your mouse has 11 buttons as I see it (If the wheels are clickable aswell).

Ive read some about this since I own a couple of mice with sidebuttons and I want to use them along with the standard config as mentioned above. Ive seen people taking about configuring new software buttons to the rest of the hardware buttons but I haven got it to work myself. As for now I use scripts to change my mouse config when I am playing games and I need the sidebuttons more than the wheel.

Hopefully someone has a solution to the binding of more than 5 buttons at once.

[Edit]
And there seem to be a thread in this forum with more info on how : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=21303
