Config Linksys MUSB12 to be able to print on a Canon MF227dw, O/S Debian 9.8.
 

I have a HP Desktop 86-x64 running Debian 9.8, and I have a Linksys USB Modem MUSB12.
I would like to be able make connection to a Canon imageCLASS 227dw (lan - wireless and wired) I have been trying on my own, but the latest Canon drivers July 2019 are not recognized by anything. From Googling I have found literature that confirms that MUSB12 is Linux compatible, and shouln't present a problem. The information on past posts dont seem to address this issue.

I assume your actually using a WUSB12 USB wireless adapter. This is an old wireless adapter that does not support WPA encryption and switching to WEP is not recommend.

How is your network presently configured i.e. router/MODEM etc. How is your desktop currently connected and does it need a wireless adapter?

Is the printer currently connected to the network? If so is it wired or wireless?

I am not sure how the network is configured.
The Desktop is connected to the Cable ISP via a Linksys switch.
Regarding the question about whether the printer is connected to the network. I am not sure, but I think the printer is connected wirelessly, and also wired. Could this also be a problem?
Could you also explain the difference between WPA encription and WEP?

The desktop is wired so the wireless adapter is not necessary.

The printer may be wired but it is only using one interface at a time. You should be able to print a status or configuration page using its panel that shows how it is connected as well as its IP address.

Thanks, thats a lot of reading I will have to do.
In the meantime I reran the printer config option and was able to get the error message "idle"
It has changed my IP Address.
I will follow the installation steps, and get back to you when I have a result of some sort.
