conexant modem driver for mandrake 9.2

I installed mandrake 9.2 version but my conexant winmodem doesn't work. although linux recognised it. I thik I need a driver but on the conexant site they want to be paid wich is a contradiction with linux philosophy. I'am not an expert user. Does anyone know where will I be able to find the driver for free?

thank you

Run "kppp". Go to setup--device and select /dev/tty/SHCFO or SHSFO

Neither did mine. Kppp setup device /tty has not shcfo or shsfo. I only founded s0, s1, s2, s3. I tried them all but it only says "initializing modem" and it doesn't work. anyway thak you for your help. Is that possible that nobody has here the driver for my modem? It would be easier send them in an e-mail, isn't it?

Why don't you just download the free drivers and see if they work for you?

I just found this thread, it seems I forgot to reply Sorry about that.
Anyway, you need to run "hcfpciconfig" from the terminal. I hope you're still there...
