conexant HCF v.90 pci lan/modem combo

i have conexant octopus hcf v.90 pci lan/modem combo in comaq presario 1215us. i just installed mandrake 9 in my system. i somehow got my modem to work thru dial up by downloading a driver from linuxant.com. however i have not been able to make my ethernet to work on lan even though my modem and ethernet are combined.

any suggestion on how to make it work?

does my ethernet needs a separate driver. if so where can i find it and how do i install it

I think that this is the solution, when looking at the 'Capabilities: <available only to root>' text. In the console, before you start to install anything, type 'su root'. Then try doing what you want to do.
