Conexant HCF P85 modem problems
 

Hi, I would really like to get my modem working on RedHat 9. It is a Conexant HCF P85 data/fax/remote TAM and has something called "WinXP inbuild support." Is it a dreaded Winmodem? (Certainly sounds like it.) I have some additional info from my XP partition; it is in PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 0, device 11, function 0) and is in COM 3.

I have tried an RPM from linuxant but was not sure if I installed it correctly (if at all - I was very new to Linux at the time).

I have tried to get it working with kppp, it does something when I test it using different ttys (?) nos. but when I dial, it just hangs... ending with me having to close the program.

This post is really just to see if any of you friendly people have any other ideas to get it working apart from linuxant. Linuxant is ok, but even if their driver does work, I will only have a temporary 14.4 kbps (or something).

It's kind of a pain having to rely on XP for one thing only; the internet!

do a search for hcf modem. It should give you everything you need.
I just found the old drivers from Linuxant, by searching, thanks to ...*nuggets of course
