Conexant AccessRunner DSL USB

I recently installed Mandrake 9.1 and it doesnt recognise my modem, i found drivers for it on sourceforge (its an eTEC USB DSL modem using the conexant PT-3806 chipset)

here is the site:
sourceforge.net/projects/accessrunner

my probelm.....im a n00b....the drivers are complicated to install and i aint got a clue....all the guides and stuff are for Mandrake 9.1 and for PPPoA which is what i need....but they're all in Spanish.... the software translations on they're projects website (accessrunner.sourceforge.net) are awful.....

does ne1 here have a USB modem like mine or with the same chipset and know wot they're doing??.....some help installing would be very very nice....i wanna be able to use the net in Linux....

Hmmm, yes it is particularly nasty.

Does this modem have an ethernet connection? If so, connect a network cable from it to your pc and run it that way. Should give you less problems and is unlikely to need a driver.

Talking

Darn....It doesn't have an ethernet connection....I managed to find some drivers for it...But it says

"I HAVE FOUND AN ADSL USB MODEM. Ver=xxx Model=xxx"

But it has some problems with establishing a link....
Too bad...

Cheers,
Athen

I had a look at the forums. It looks as though most have used the tarball rather than the rpm files. It may help you to look at the forums too - they are here. The source tarball will have the most options:
download it
unzip it (either in console or browser)
open a console (if not already opened)
cd to the directory you just unzipped
run ./configure && make && make install as root
follow any instructions

Post back if you hit any problems.

>>> Inits Conexant AccessRunner <<< >>>
Loading firmware...
Conexant AccessRunner microcode upload program. 6/9/2003
Josep Comas <jcomas@gna.es>
See credits in documentation

I found ADSL modem with VendorID = 0572 & ProductID = cafe
Loading and sending /usr/sbin/cxfirm1.bin...
Firmware is sent!
Setting configuration...
Waiting ADSL line is up (until 90 seconds)...
............................................
ADSL line is down
>>> Loading driver...
Launching driver in normal mode...
modprobe: Can't locate module cxacru

What does this mean ? Please help me out...I really need to get it running asap...Thanks in advance..
