well ext3 IS ext2, just without usin some of the features added to ext3. i'd strongly advise tyou against using applications like explore2fs without extremely good reasons to do so. They are notoriously unstable, and often badly written. and if you do still think you need them, NEVER wriet to the drive, ONLY read access should ever be used.

what you would need to do though, is to return to using ext3 as an ext2 system, so change the file system in /etc/fstab back to ext2. this is still not advised though, zas ext3 is much more flexible and reliable than ext2 due to it's journalling capabilities.

Whether you are running RedHat 8.0 or not, this website has what you need:

https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals...xt2-revert.html

If you haven't registered with RedHat, you will probably need to do that to access this page. No cost but a few minutes of your time.

(Chris, I'm assuming this is where you wanted it posted)
